Is having a management degree really needed for IT industry?
I am a software engineer. Can anyone justify me the need for a management degree for career growth. None of the icons in this industry are having any management degree. Also people who pursue ca management course after some experience in IT industry, go for other career lines, say finance or marketing after the course. So the question is, is it necessary or just craze everyone having now a days??

Not really. You need at least a bachelor's degree to move up and to get promotions and raises.

Getting into the medical management field with a general business management degree
Getting into the medical management field with a general business management degree?
Currently I am enrolled in college to obtain my associate's degree in business management. I figured I would start off with a broad degree in the management area as to not limit my choices. I was wondering though that once I obtain my associate's degree if I would be able to get into entry level management at a health care facility while I either obtain my bachelors in general business administration, or health services administration.

How will I make use of a Marketing/Management degree if there are so much competition out there
How will I make use of a Marketing/Management degree if there are so much competition out there?
Because there are so many people out there that are majoring either in Marketing or Management, it's so hard to stand out or differentiate yourself from others. The worst part is that there aren't any reassurance that you'll get the job you want after you get your degree. Now it's either you stand out or let them eat you alive. Is it true that people with a Management degree have more of a variety of jobs to choose from and are more flexible because it's a broad field, and people with a Marketing degree are stuck with jobs only pertaining to the Marketing field and are less flexible? At first I wanted to major in IT, but then I felt like my chances of breaking into that industry is very slim because of comments about a lot of jobs being offshored and plus I'm very much a beginner, which makes me ignorant about the industry. Today companies look for IT people with a lot of experience with computers, which I certainly don't have. I'm confused about whether I should major in Mktg or Mgmt.

Have you read the book, RICH DAD, POOR DAD? it will tell you not to get a job, create jobs. People mainly think that the way to make millions is to work up the ladder. That's why there are so many poor people. Millionaires use their marketing skills to market their companies. I think you should find a subject that teaches you to be a millionaire.

hello there buddy... i see that you are having a hard time in choosing what degree to choose so that after you graduate you will have a job, the answer there is simple, in choosing the degree that you want, know first what you want, try to examine yourself first, try to ask open ended questions like where am i good at? do i like doing this? am i satisfied with what i am doing? before you come up with a decision, this questions surely helps... I have been working for a year now and to tell you honestly, its not "landing a job" that you should think, but "what would be your career goals" after you land a job, if you are thinking of my first predicament, well we working here in a company thinks on what will happen on our careers, we often asking ourselves "am i going to do this stuff for the rest of my life?" Having a job is only a objective but it is not your main goal... try to re-focus your concerns.... I can see that you will have a good career in any field that you want as long you are dedicated, committed, discipline and hardwork...Good Luck and Best Wishes pal!

I have a degree in Marketing and have worked in at least 2 marketing agencies. But from my experience, turnover is high because a lot of agencies lose clients after one project, so already I've been laid off twice. I also notice that many marketing agencies hire interns and recent college grads. There's not a lot of older professionals in a marketing agency, giving me the impression that they only want young people for cheap labor and they eventually lay off employees when they get more expensive.

It taught me to see human beings as a resource. Now I can look upon them as tools of industry and business without having to acknowledge their humanity. I can reduce people (workers) to basic spreadsheet equations measuring the relative short term gains of business without being bothered by concern for their livelihood and their families. Business education is a great way to lose your compassion and humanity.

That's my major, and you are right...you'll earn more with a degree in it. For you, already having managerial experience is a huge plus. That combined with your degree, you should have no problem finding a management position. As for what kind of jobs are out there for management majors, there are tons of them! That's the biggest reason I chose this as my major. I would either like to go into hotel management or open my own business, not quite sure yet! But good luck in whatever you decide to do!!! Here's a website that lists some jobs you get with this degree.
2
Depends where you get the degree from. If it's from Wharton, MIT or Stern like schools, they will huant you down for executive positions. If it's from average state U, those grads are usually called waiter,
3
I understand why people ask what kinds of jobs they can get with degrees like history or Philosophy. But I don't understand why they ask what kinds of jobs they can get with a degree in Business Management. Isn't it kind of obvious from the name? It is even more obvious if you specialize in one of the concentrations. Accounting majors get jobs in accounting. Finance majors get jobs in finance. Marketing majors get jobs in marketing. Operations management majors get jobs in operations. Strategy majors get jobs in strategic development or in management consulting. Do you really not understand this?

Can I be a HR manager with a business management degree
Can I be a HR manager with a business management degree?
I am currently enrolled at a community college and I need to find a school by next year. I want to be a human resource manager so I am majoring on business adminstration. There are very few schools to choose from that actually offer a human resource program but there are a lot of schools that offer business management. Can I become and HR manager with that degree? And is a Business Management degree the same as a Business Administration degree?

Do the business degree then a Masters in HRM eg http://business.fiu.edu/chapman/master_of_science_in_hrm.cfm You will get a higher starting salary and have better career prospects. Use the money you saved by going to a CC first to pay for it. In fact admission to such programs requires a degree in anything. So suit yourself about what you study. That is one of the advantages of doing a Masters - your undergrad is often more liberal. Thanks Bill

Hi, you can use your skills to jump to a new level. Try this choice and you´ll see what can i offer to you. Just send me email. Regards!!

You are rewarded in the management field by your ability to produce results. A good education doesn't hurt. A master's degree is impressive, especially when you're just starting out and don't have job experience. But once you get the job, only your results will determine how lucrative the field is for you. Once you're hired, nobody cares about your education; only "what can yo do for me today". Either you're a strong leader and critical thinker or you aren't. It's much easier to get a degree in school than to be a financial success in the job force.

1.) Retail Management 2.) B2B or (more likely) B2C sales 3.) Administrative Assitant With so many people getting Bachelor's degrees, the jobs listed above are the most likely avenues to end up in. That doesn't mean that they're the only place you can go though. If you have a specific career dream, try working it part time, doing an internship, or freelancing in it after hours. A lot of times, it's not the degree but who and what you know. Good luck.

You should be fine just getting a DipEd (that's what I plan on doing after my psych degree). Otherwise you may be able to apply to the education department to get a limited authority to teach registration. Stu :-) http://www.stuartguthrie.com
2
You don't need a degree in education, but you do need to obtain your license. Your best bet at this point is to contact your local department of education (usually you can find them with a search engine) and find out the local requirements of certification. Chances are you will need to take the teacher test in a subject area to get licensure, also at some point you will need to become "highly qualified" as determined by the NCLB act. This means you have gone through a program, which you can often do after you are hired and working. But again, you need to get in touch with someone at the state DOE to find out what you need to do. Good luck!
3
Degree requirements vary according to where you want to teach. The best way to find out is to search for "teacher certification" or "teacher requirements" plus the name of the state or city where you live. For example, I live in New York State, so I'd search for teacher certification + New York. The University of Kentucky's web site links to requirements for all 50 US states. If you are not in the US, you do the same kind of search using the name of a country. One link below is for the UK.

What is the point of a bachelors degree in management?
As far as I'm concerned, thats 4 wasted years that could have gone towards working your way up into management which your going to have to do anyway once you graduate. Most places nowadays don't require a degree to become any type of manager. They regard experience as a far greater asset. Don't do management, its a waste.

I would check out Working Mother Magazine.. Every year they list off the best 100 companies for working mothers. While I understand at 23 you probably are not a mom yet, you may very well want to become one in the future, so you shoudl check out the companies that will allow you to be both a professional Super Star and a soccer mom. Also - check into recruiting companies. A good recruiter in the area will know which companies are looking for Minority applicants, and which one's are not. At this point just make sure if you get a job you dedicate 3 years to it - you do not want to be a job jumper. Good luck to you.
2
Most of the companies you mentioned will be looking for experience along with your degree. I would advise you check into internship programs at some companies; you might have to start off with a beginners position to prove yourself and work your way up from there. Be confident when you interview; let them know what you can bring to their company. If they say you don't have enough experience; you could say, "that might work to your advantage. Since I don't have much experience anything learned from your company will be done how you want it; not how I learned it somewhere else....." Something like that just might get you in the door. Good luck to you.

The Working Mother Magazine survey has just been updated, so I would definitely check that out. As an aside, I think that you should take some time to think about what you want to DO with your career and life. "Business Administration" is not a career, nor is it a proper goal. What motivates you? What gets you out of bed in the morning without an alarm clock? Investing the time to answer those questions will pay back big dividends down the road. Do you like talking with people and selling things? Try the big drug companies, like Pfizer or Astra-Zeneca. A personable, motivated college grad can earn $50,000+ right out of college. They hire a lot of women as well. If you are into finance or investing (and selling), you can join one of many financial advisor programs, such as Merrill Lynch or Edward Jones. Do you like marketing or product development? Try Procter and Gamble. They have a great college hiring system and promote from within. Capital One is also a great place to learn marketing. The company also has a strong effort to promote diversity in hiring. Do you like more operational type jobs? Try retailers like Target or Nordstrom. Just choosing "a great company with benefits" won't get you very far if you don't have an interest in what that company does. The book, "What color is Your Parachute" could help you with these issues as well.

I want to do a HR Management degree. In the eyes of my employer, would the degree or uni be most important
I want to do a HR Management degree. In the eyes of my employer, would the degree or uni be most important?
I'm thinking of doing the HR Management course in my local area, but all 4 universities are ranked less than 70 in the Guardian uni rank list. Would my future employer sneer upon my choice of uni or be most interested in my degree?

He'd be far more interested in your experience. HR Management isn't an entry-level job, degree or not. The real key will be to collect some real-world HR experience either through a part-time job or an internship. You're also likely to find that most HR folks don't have an undergrad degree in HR. They either worked up from support functions or came to business from the social sciences.

Can I work in Fashion PR with a Fashion Management degree
Can I work in Fashion PR with a Fashion Management degree?
I'm studying Fashion Management after which I'll get a BA degree. But I'm planning to work in the fashion PR field (just I don't have the opportunity to study that in my country). Can I do that with my degree if, for example, I get relevant job experience or if I attend an intensive summer program, or do I have to attend a full Fashion PR course? Thanks!!

You "can" but you probably won't. Any degree in "Fashion" usually leads to low-pay, dead-end, high-pressure jobs, often ending in unemployment. It's a major mistake to attend Fashion School.

Hi I have a degree in accounting and have between involved within alot of industries. With a degree in management you could be involved in the fly fishing industry and you will have knowledge of the management process. You could also become a specialist business consultant for businesses within this industry. Also speak to your lecturers and I am sure you will be excited with your future's potential. I wish you all the best. Kind regards Al http://www.ooste.com

is a 2 year business management degree good for managing retail stores
is a 2 year business management degree good for managing retail stores?
i am going to college for business management and would like to manage a Sephora or Bath and Body Works. is this degree useful for that or does it require additional retail experience? i don't want to find out that my degree is worthless because im really excited about it.

You're going to need at least a 4-year degree to manage a store, a 2-year degree will be worthless.
2
Do you work for either company now? If not, you may want to fill out an application ASAP and check to see if they have a management training program. Unless you have extensive management experience spanning 10+ years at another store and an MBA from Harvard, it is HIGHLY unlikely you can just walk into a Sephora or Bath & Body Works and become a manager without a company specific program...especially if you only have a 2-year degree. I worked retail for 6 years (Price Chopper and Stop & Shop, which are both grocery stores) and both of them had a management training program -- that was the only way to become a manager -- and unless you had a 4-year-degree, you pretty much had to work there first to be considered for the program. Pretty much the process went like this: 1. Start off working part time OR graduate from a 4 year program in business. 2. Apply to the management training program. 3. Be accepted into the management training program. 4. Successfully complete the management training program (could be up to 2 years). 5. Work as an assistant manager and wait for a management position to open (positions open all the time, but those without experience will likely not be offered the position right away). 6. Apply for management position and hope you're the best qualified applicant at that time. 7. Keep your position because managers tend to be bounced from store to store every few years My best friend waited 3 years to become a manager after completing the company program (she had a B.S. in business and worked for the company for 7 years). Another friend of mine is on year 5 waiting and he's hoping he's next in line for a management position (he doesn't have a degree, but has been working for Walgreens for 8 years and is on the last level of assistant manager before becoming manager).

What is the advantage of having a business administration degree as well as a business of management degree?

Depends on what you want to do. Your B.S. in accountancy should be sufficent enough. Instead of taking an extra year to double in Management, you might as well check into B school and get your MBA. (Two year program).

How useful is a bachelors degree in management
How useful is a bachelors degree in management?
I'm majoring in political science and I'm considering adding on a practical second degree. I'm studying political science simply because that's what I'm interested in learning about. I have no management experience, so I wonder what I could actually do once I get the degree. Is there a good career that would make use of a double major in political science and management? Something with good demand that wouldn't have too much competition?

Good demand and no competition? Sounds like you should tack on economics in the mix to find out how that's kind of impossible. I'd say do what you enjoy in political science and follow up with a professional graduate degree like an MBA - which admittedly are a dime a dozen these days, but hey, if an MBA is a fluff graduate degree, what's a commerce/management undergrad degree worth?

You'd probably be working as a consultant / advisor / teacher to business people in a developing country. It wouldn't make sense to have you teach English in an upriver school. The first answer you got was remarkably foolish.

Where are the best places to look for a Job when you have a Business Management degree?

Look everywhere. Monster, CareerBuilder, HotJobs, your local newspaper, everywhere. Apply for everything that says it requires a 4 year degree. You may not land a job in your ideal area, but at least you'll have an income coming in. Every business is looking for people who can step up and lead - and your management degree shows that you have the capacity to be a leader, even if your degree isn't in the exact field they're looking for.

Whatever you do, unless you have previous experience, STAY OUT OF FOOD SERVICE!!!!!! As a 15 year veteran of food service, let it be known WE HATE BUSINESS DEGREES. There is a sound reason for this. Most people with business degrees have no idea what to do & they are usually hired as management. The only problem with this idea is that, if you don't know the job from the ground up, no one will respect you. For example, I worked at a well-known Mexican food (Americanized) restaraunt. We had a man come in as a manager who had never worked in food service in his life. He spent 25 years in military intelligence and another 10 years in the Secret Service. Obviously, he should be able to handle anything, right? He started smoking 3 packs a day, after only 3 weeks on the job & he had stopped smoking 20 years ago!!! After 3 months on the job, he had a nervous breakdown & ended up in a mental ward for a year. We were so proud. If you want to be in food service and have any sense, apply for management and request that you start as a crew member to learn the job and work your way to the management position in 2 months. I did this the last job I had in food service and, after the 2 months were up, moved up and had no issues with the crew as I had proved myself and showed I did not look down on them, after all, how could I if I had been down with them? The other management trainee that started the same time I did came in as management directly. She did not see me moved up because she had been run out of the company before I got the "promotion". A degree is useful, if used correctly. If you can keep your head out of your @$$, then food service is really the place to make serious money. A junior manager can start out at nearly $40,000 depending on the market and a senior manager and approach $80,000. Yes, I am serious.

it's good to have a good stable business background but i would think if you want to go into fashion merchandising then major in fashion merchandising it is ultimately your choice but you should do what will give you stability and something that will make you satisfied. Wouldn't get involved with it if it makes you miserable.

What can I do with a businesss management degree?
I am thinking about changing my major from Biology (which is not for me) to business.... Maybe business management? Manage businesses? It's just a generic degree that allows you to become a manager in any industry -- you don't have to have any particular technical skill to manage groups, all you need are the business skills to do it effectively. It works best when combined with an MBA.
2
This degree offers a lot of flexibility and choice in your career. You can work in the corporate sector as anything from a business development officer to solutions manager, from marketing executive to trends research analyst. You can also choose to go into the banking/financial sectors, insurance and assurance, the Government, public administration and even education. Since this degree course is popular, and more and more people are becoming qualified in this area, the initial remuneration that you will get will not be that high. So I suggest you specialise in a certain area of business. You can opt to do a Masters in that specialised field or just choose to gain work experience in that particular area of your interest. When you are a specialist you will get paid more. One of the highest paid specialist areas is remising. Being a remisier, or a stockbroker, is a challenging but well-paid vocation. Check it out to see if it's your cuppa. Anyway best of luck!

Most likely, somebody working there got training in medical assistant or similar. It's possible, but why would they hire you if there's so many people training for that job and fighting for that job? My friend got a degree in Business Management...she wants to do as you, but now she just stays home. Her stratedgy was go get a job in the office, but nada. What you can do is try to get a receptionist job or office administration. I see loads of jobs like that.
2
If you have a business management degree, then you can go for a manager or an assistant manager to start with. If you are interested in a medical office, look for offices with group clinics or many doctors working together or a doctor with few clinics under his sleeve. This is where a manager or an assistant manager or even office administration will come in the picture. Good luck

What is a Masters Degree in Management and Leadership worth regarding starting salaries
What is a Masters Degree in Management and Leadership worth regarding starting salaries?
I graduate with a Master Degree in Management and Leadership (FROM A NON-IVY LEAGUE SCHOOL). When I get out of the military, I wanted to know what it is worth. I see that MBA's are worth around $130K a year. I realize that the economy changes but I wanted some idea. Also, are their any helpful sites where companies recruit from for Master Degree's when I leave the military?

Your military service plus the masters degree should be valuable to employers. I don't think you can compare that with the MBA. Salary ranges of MBA graduates are very broad, but I think the average is less than your figure. The Official MBA Guide reports average salaries of graduates, as provided by universities. The top 40 schools ranked by salary of graduates range from $84,000 to $120,000. These are medians of each school, and each has its own range, which is not reported.

i have a degree in nutrition and in management.. what companies should i look into working for?
The management degree relates to restaurants, hotels and institutions (such as schools, jails, hospitals). Both of the degrees will be from Penn State University and they will both be bachelor's. Where should I look to work where I can make use of both of these degrees and earn a good salary? I already know about Aramark and Sodexho as possibilities, but any other suggestions would be great! Look at the following companies; The Big 4; Sodexho Aramark Chartwells Compass Group The above 4 companies probably have a 50% share or more in the Major US Foodservice industry when it comes to Hospitals, Campuses, Schools, Private institutions and the large corporate sector. Sodexho is Based out of VA, but they have a local office in Allentown, PA which is always accepting applications, big turnover in the industry, and the pay is ok overall. Joseph Director of Retail Operations Sodexho
Thanks.

Director of Security, Assistant Director of Security, essentially anything Managerial. They look more for your management degree, the security comes second. You can also be a police officer. You do not need a degree in criminal justice. They will just send you to the police academy.

What government jobs can I get with a BUsiness Management Degree?
Listening to a friend's advice, Ive become interested in searching for employment within the U.S. Government. I am a recent grad, with a degree in Business Management. Can anyone give me an idea of the kind of entry-level jobs I can get, with this degree, within the government? I went to http://www.usajobs.gov/ but many of the jobs seems to want experience within the government. Any advice will be great, Thanks.

What I should do in pursing a job with a Sports Management Degree?
I am graduating may 2009 from the with a sports management degree, but with the economy the way it is its so hard to get a job. I've applied all over the place but everywhere I apply they tell me they just have no openings. I don't know what other jobs I can apply for...does anybody have any suggestions? I also wanted to work in England, but it seems almost impossible to do that too!

Couple of routes you can take. 1. Look into getting a masters degree. The economy has never been this bad, and if job opportunites are not there, its best to take the time and go back into graduate school. Look into an MBA degree or a Sports Management Masters. 2. Try getting an internship for the Spring. 3. Look for an entry level job within a spots organization, and work your way up.

Can I find a good job with a project management degree even if I dont want to be a project manager?!?
The degree would be a BAS in Project and Aquisitions management with a special emphasis in Training and Development/Human Resources. My question is can I find a good job with that degree without actually having to be a project manager. I basically just want a business degree and this is the closest thing to it offered at my college.

You need to ask yourself what you want to do. A business degree is a very broad, vague degree. There are many rewarding positions available in T&D and HR.

Studying a management course may contribute near to nothing when your really out there (in the market - I know because ive experienced it) However those degrees and your previous achievements may count in a lot in gathering investors especially considering that your going for banking industry where credibility is considered top priority. Ask yourself a question, would you rather save your money at a bank made by ivy grads plus 20 years of experience or just someone with B.A in management and bank license. Not to sound cruel and I know that i'm saying out of my lines but I wouldnt really go into banking industry if i were you. Also if you want to go make a bank you rather do economics than business management (both may be great) Don't take my words too hard because you know that major businesses started from scratch and those ceos (back in the days) werent ivy grads. But just know the statistics and facts before you start.

You could try a completely free home based online business.

There is no requirement for a degree in setting up your own business. The junior colleges usually have a small business program which is better.

How can I make sure that when I get my Business Management degree it's corporate not retail?
I noticed that some people when they go into Business Management they get their degree and go into retail which really only pays half the amount as corporate does. How do you make sure that the degree I get leads me into the corporate world, or middle management instead of retail managment?

Well, the obvious solution is not to apply to any retail jobs. If you want to improve your chances of being hired by a major corporation, though, keep your GPA up, keep an eye out for internship opportunities while you're still in school, and stay on top of the recruiting process (your school's career center can help you with that).

Health Information has become over saturated with new grads with no experience. Most employers are looking to hire people who have at least 2 years experience. But if you are truly interested in HIM, don't let this stop you. Your best bet is to try to get a job elsewhere in the field, gain your experience and then leverage for the job you want. I would suggest you looking for a low/ entry level job in medical records or billing in a hospital. Always volunteer or offer to help out other depts and learn all you can while helping. I did that when I first started out and it was invaluable. There was a huge surge of new grads the past couple of years, but I think people are getting frustrated with the lack of jobs for new grads and have left HIM for other fields. I think that will be advantageous to people like you who truly have an interest in it, and won't be graduating for a couple more years. by the time (i hope) things will have settled down a bit.

This is the cart before the horse! The purpose of higher education is to help you maximise your potential in your chosen career, not to indulge a whim and then look for a job to fit it!

Are you going into this program or have already been enrolled for awhile? If going in, emphasize the merchandising aspect. There is an ongoing need for buyers who know their stuff when it comes to quality, value, and style. Everyone from the haughtiest fashion stores to Wal-mart has buyers. If you have been in the program for awhile, you do need a lot of business courses, including at least one course in managerial accounting.

I am currently in high school. I want to be a sports executive when I am older. I have a 3.9 GPA, and I am looking to put that into a sports management degree. I live in Michigan, but I am not interested into the University of Michigan. I am thinking about Seton Hall in New Jersey, since it is so close to New York. I haven't visited any schools yet, but I want your opinion of what the best sports management schools are in the country.

Can I become an interior decorator with a business management degree
Can I become an interior decorator with a business management degree?
What are some jobs/companies you can work for to get started in interior decorating. I just graduated with a business management bachelors degree. I only have restaurant experience, but I want to get into interior design/decorating.

One can become whatever one wants, regardless of type of degree.

How likely am I to be hired as a paralegal with a Management degree
How likely am I to be hired as a paralegal with a Management degree?
I am a junior in college working on a Business Management major. I am considering becoming a paralegal after graduation. Would it be best to change my major or keep my major and enter a paralegal certificate program? Do employers care if my degree isn't law related? I'm in Arizona, btw. Thanks.

If you posess a degree - or any other qualification - then you'll already be ahead of the bunch when it comes to searching for vocations. My friend has a degree and he wasn't certain what direction to go with it, but he uncovered some good tips and tricks on the website in the resource box below which aided him to decide that he wanted to be a lab assistant. There is plenty of guidance on the website regarding other vocations.
2
You would need to take a Paralegal program because that will teach you the fundamentals of the paralegal field. Business Management does not. You may learn a few things related to law but that will not give you enough knowledge in paralegal.
3
Honestly, it depends. No one here can predict for you how employable you would be. I know many paralegals that have their bachelor's degree in various areas. It isn't mandatory that you have a paralegal based education. With that said, please do your research on what a paralegal is and what they do. I don't think it would be prudent to ditch your business management to become a paralegal. If it is something you are just "considering", I suggest you really do some research and ask yourself if it is worth it. I can tell you from my stand-point that a business management degree won't turn any heads in my office. Like the previous poster said, a paralegal's education is very specific. My basic coursework was family law, torts and personal injury law, criminal law, business law, elder law, civil litigation, legal writing, legal research, law office technology, etc. Very tailored to what I was going to do. You will be at a major disadvantage. Your hiring attorney might not care. He/she may just see 'bachelor's degree' and assume you're smart enough to catch on. If you do decide this is the path for you, please attend an ABA approved program. Do not get duped into 1 year certificates or online programs or paralegal institutes. At the very least, you should be attended a two year community college program. Good luck.

Your question concerns me because my 18 year old son (a high school senior) wants to major in sports management. What about sports marketing for say Nike, Wilson, etc.- or possibly work at a golf course, or any of the sports stadiums (i.e. Staples Center). Or, writing for a sports publication. What about teaching/coaching middle school or high school. What did you have in mind when you decided on sports management. My son feels it's pretty diverse, but he's is thinking he should probably just major in management with a minor in sports. Are you having difficulty finding jobs, or are they just low paying to start. Interesting in hearing about your experience.

Banking, Finance companies, Accounting companies, Tax offices, Fed Govt, etc. That's a complex degree to go for without knowing what to do with it. Are you sure that's the field you want?

What can I do with a business management degree with two minors
What can I do with a business management degree with two minors?
I am currently in college trying to graduate with a bachelors degree in business management and with two minors. I have decided that my two minors are going to be Human Resource Management and the other minor in Finances. (Its not a lot of classes to do this). What can I do with this major and these two minors. (I'm not asking what can I do using these three together...I just want some ideas on careers that I can do with any part of this degree).

A great career for you would be an Executive Recruiter. That uses your management and human resources training. If you were to specialize in financial recruiting (ie. Accountants, Financial Analysts, etc.) that would use all three emphasis! (Not that you wanted that, but anyway...) Robert Half is the largest recruiter in the United States, but it is not by any means the only one. Generally, recruiting firms make 1/3 of the candidate's first year salary. So, if you were placing a partner at an accounting firm whose first year salary was $90,000 your firm would make $30,000 on the placement. The financial structure for the associate Executive Recruiter is either salary plus commission or commission only. A commission only is typically 25 percent of the firm fee. So, your accounting partner would make you $7500. A typical Executive Recruiter places 12-15 candidates a year. One field that's really hot right now is health care recruiting, especially Pharmacist recruiting. If you take this route, you will spend much of your time on the phone cold calling candidates and using resume databases to contact potential candidates. This is a fun, financially rewarding profession.

What kind of job can I get with a Technical management degree
What kind of job can I get with a Technical management degree?
Hello all, I will be graduating in February with my BA in technical management with a minor in Computer networking. Do you think this degree will open up more opportunities for me with more money. Can anyone give me a list of what job titles I can do with this degree because I am not exactly 100% sure what I want to do, I just thought that my degree would be more versatile since it is mix of business and computers.

Be prepared to work your way up....There are a lot of technical management types in the hunt for jobs that have years of experience. This may require you to work your way up the ladder. Get some experience with some non-profits that show that you can get the job done, while working in something. The more accomplishments you can show, the better your chance of getting a good management position. Don't confuse activity with accomplishment. You need to be able to show that your actions brought about good results. Finally, remember that the team you lead will be a reflection of you. If you mentor and coach your team to be a positive reflection on the company, that's going to be a positive reflection on you and lead to promotion. Also remember that if you can't be replaced, you can't be promoted, so always be training your replacement so that when you choose to move on to better things, your company will recognize your accomplishments.

you are soon going to graduate and you are now asking this? I would say you can manage departments of airlines, aviation companies, flight schools, etc
2
Try looking into an airline's reliability, records and maintenance planning departments.
3
I have a couple of other answers: 1) you can manage an airport. 2) ask your college's aviation department counselor. They should have all of the up to date info. and can give you contacts and names of recent graduates in the careers that you will be interested in.

How good is the Business Management degree in Middlesex University?
One of my friends is looking forward to study in Middlesex Uni next year. I just wanted to know if their teaching methods/the degree in whole is just average or the best of the rest... anything regarding their business management degree will be helpful. Thanks in advance! The question is where are you locate at? In the United States or England? If you are located in the USA, I would say that Middlesex University is not the College for you. If in England is maybe a good College to go to. The English system of Higher Education is set on a difference skill level than that of the USA. If this to be used in anyother country in the World. I believe that is would be wise to check with the Country National Accredition Agency of how to job market is for that Degree and if the College is accredited.
