I am really interested in getting a degree in healthcare information management. I am just worried that I will not be able to get a job because every job off I have read wants experience. Any advice?

Health Information has become over saturated with new grads with no experience. Most employers are looking to hire people who have at least 2 years experience. But if you are truly interested in HIM, don't let this stop you. Your best bet is to try to get a job elsewhere in the field, gain your experience and then leverage for the job you want. I would suggest you looking for a low/ entry level job in medical records or billing in a hospital. Always volunteer or offer to help out other depts and learn all you can while helping. I did that when I first started out and it was invaluable. There was a huge surge of new grads the past couple of years, but I think people are getting frustrated with the lack of jobs for new grads and have left HIM for other fields. I think that will be advantageous to people like you who truly have an interest in it, and won't be graduating for a couple more years. by the time (i hope) things will have settled down a bit.
